Lake Waccamaw’s boil advisory has been lifted. Town officials said all tests came back normal this afternoon. (Wednesday)
What officials hope will be the last water pressure loss at Lake Waccamaw due to a road project could happen tonight (Monday).
Improvements to the Chaunceytown Road and U.S. 74 interchange could cause low or no water pressure tonight from 10 p.m. until 4 a.m., according to the town. Pressure loss leads to increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system.
A boil advisory has been issued for all customers at the lake. Any water used for human consumption should be vigorously boiled for one minute to remove potential contaminants. Bottled water is also recommended.
Untreated town water can still be used for bathing and laundry.
The town will test the water in the system as required by state law when the pressure is restored. The town will post a notice via the media, its website and at town hall when the test results have been returned.
