The person who shot murder suspect Jeff Fowler will not be charged, District Attorney Jon David said today.
Fowler, 53, is being held under no bond on a charge of first degree murder. He allegedly shot his daughter Kaley twice in the face March 21. Miss Fowler was reportedly trying to defend her mother from being assaulted by Fowler.
Jeff Fowler was shot multiple times and airlifted to Novant New Hanover. He was arrested on his release.
David said that the district attorney’s office and sheriff’s office decided that based on the evidence, no charges will be filed against the shooter. Neither the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office nor the District Attorney have said who shot Jeff Fowler.
“We have carefully coordinated with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office during the course of this investigation and in making a charging decision,” David said. “In light of information known to date, no one will be charged in connection with the shooting of Mr. Fowler.”
