Chadbourn Police and Columbus County deputies have captured the last of four suspects who ran out of fuel while trying to escape police.

Kendrick Lee Dakota Hunt, 26, of Lumberton, was held under $27,500 secured bond on charges of misdemeanor larceny, resisting a public officer, and a probation violation. The last charge came from Robeson County, according to Detention Center records.

Hunt, along with Casandra LeClaire, Christopher LeClaire, and Chastity Locklear allegedly shoplifted a number of “high dollar” items from the Chadbourn Advance Auto Tuesday, Chadbourn Police said. A responding CPD officer spotted their distinctive-colored SUV and gave chase, along with Columbus County deputies.

The four disappeared in Cerro Gordo, and while officers were searching the area, a resident called 911 about a vehicle in their yard with four individuals inside. One of the men was said to be begging for fuel money at homes in the neighborhood.

Officers caught Casandra LeClaire and Locklear at the vehicle, and arrested Christopher LeClaire a short distance away.

Hunt reportedly escaped on foot. Witnesses reported seeing law enforcement officers arrest Hunt behind Cerro Gordo School Wednesday morning.

All four suspects were initially charged with misdemeanor larceny and resisting a public officer. Locklear and Christopher LeClaire were also charged with fleeing to elude arrest. LeClaire was wanted in Robeson County for a probation violation.

Additional charges are pending in the case.
