Pregnant Woman Killed in Riegelwood; Suspect Jailed

A Riegelwood area man has been arrested on murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing a pregnant woman.

Najee Dizon Leach, 31, was taken into custody around 4 p.m. today (Wednesday), according to the Bladen Sheriff’s Office. is wanted for murder.

Deputies were called to the 100 block of Dixon Road, near the Bladen-Columbus line, at 10:33 p.m. Tuesday to a report of shots fired. While searching the area, they found Bolivia Monique Williams, 33, with multiple gunshot wounds. Williams, who was 25 weeks pregnant, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was from the Whiteville area, according to the press release. An acquaintance said Williams and Leach had been in a relationship.

BCSO Spokesperson Amanda Sykes said  no additional information is being released at this time, since this is an ongoing investigation.
