Council to Hear Updates from NWS, Projects

Whiteville City Council on Tuesday will hear an update on the current hurricane season and several ongoing projects.

Steve Pfaff of the National Weather Service Wilmington office will brief the board on the current tropical weather forecast, as well as challenges facing local governments in everything from post-storm impacts to false information. Emergency Services Director Hal Lowder will also discuss the city’s emergency plans and processes, as well as the need for “unity in messaging.”

City Manager Darren Currie will update the board on several items, including the Mollies Branch drainage improvements, the Provalus building, and the next city sewer project .

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Whiteville City Hall. It may also be viewed via the city’s website, Whiteville.nc.gov.
