Speaking of animals, Doug Sasser is our good Samaritan of the week. A black and tan bloodhound turned up at the retired judge’s home on Hallsboro Road on one of the hottest days last week. The friendly young hound was not wearing a collar.
He wasn’t terribly hungry, but appreciated a bowl of water. The hound eventually made his way on down the road, hopefully arriving home safely.
Doug is well-known for helping people out during disasters and just in times of everyday need. He and Miss Vickie have a soft spot for animals, too. We understand Miss Vickie was close to offering the big beast a new home.
