As part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, all adoption fees are being waived at Columbus Animal Protective Services.

Clear the Shelters is a national effort to rehome unwanted dogs and cats. Columbus County’s shelter is currently at maximum capacity.

Dogs, cats, kittens and puppies are available.

Rabies vaccinations are still $5, but rabies shots and adoptions will be free at Family Fur Day Saturday at the fairgrounds. Now in its third year, Family Fur Day features a petting zoo, adoptable animals, games for the kids, food trucks and more. The free event is from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

For more information, email animal.service@colunbussheriff.com, call 910.641.3945, or go by the shelter on Legion Drive in Whiteville.
