Fair Bluff saw floodwaters for more than a week after the latest storm, and cleanup is continuing.(Submitted photo)

Crisis cleanup assistance will be available through Aug. 30 in Columbus County.

Teresa Smith of Columbus Emergency Services said the deadline was extended to reach more people still dealing with debris, roof damage and flooding from Tropical Storm Debby. While the storm was two weeks ago, some areas had floodwaters until this week, and some properties have been hard to access.

Volunteers will help remove damage trees, attach tarps to roofs, clean up debris and muck out flooded homes. The assistance is free through the cooperative efforts of non-profits, faith communities and local community organizations. Volunteers provide needed equipment.

Services may not be available due to demand.
