A convicted felon arrested with a rifle and narcotics is being held under $250,000 secured bond after an arrest early Saturday morning.
Houston Edward Scott, 27, was arrested by the sheriff’s office on charges of possession of a stolen firearm by a felon, resisting a public officer, and possession with intent to manufacture sell, and deliver prescription pills, marijuana and cocaine. His address was listed on court documents as 722 E. Institute St., Chadbourn.
Warrants show that Scott was taken into custody after midnight. He allegedly had 45.77 grams of marijuana, 3.13 grams of alprazolam, and 21.5 grams of cocaine.
He also had a loaded AR-15 rifle reported stolen from Laquaina Hickman. Scott was given probation for a 2015 charge of assault with a deadly weapon in Columbus County.
Scott also allegedly refused to allow a deputy to handcuff him during the arrest, and attempted to flee.
It was Scott’s second arrest for being a felon in possession iof a firearm this year. Arrest records show he was held under $10,000 under a single count of possession of a firearm by a felon in March.
