Tabor Talk for Nov. 26

Tabor City Chamber of Commerce

Happy Thanksgiving from our Board of Directors, staff, and general membership!  We hope you, your family, and friends have a very blessed season.

As for us, we are so grateful for a wonderful community in which to work, shop, play, worship, and enjoy.  We are blessed far more than we often realize.

Your Chamber is already preparing several events for the Christmas season. To kick it off, we hope our business community will begin decorating for the Trim A Tree Christmas Decorating Contest as early as you’d like.  Please decorate as you wish … an actual decorated Christmas Tree is required to enter the contest.  Decorations as a whole will be judged.  Flyers containing details about that and other events have been distributed.  If you didn’t get one, please call 910.377.3012 and we’ll take one to you.

Let’s stop here for a minute to say, “Isn’t our town looking extremely festive this year”! The Town of Tabor City’s crews have been hard at work decorating our community.  We don’t think they are quite finished yet!  Once all of us add our Christmas decorations in storefronts, outdoors, and homes it’s going to be super SPECTACULAR.  Our children will LOVE all of lights in Tabor City’s Twinkle Town.

Our Calendar of Events for the end of November and December is below.  Please note that we have included some info from a couple of our partners.  Partnerships are so important. Our goal is to continue to compliment one another’s events.

Nov. 20:  Start decorating, if you haven’t already.

Nov. 30:  Christmas Crafts Fair (Please contact us if you need an application.  Applications may also be picked up from the Tabor City Public Library and may be returned to our office or to the library.  This event will be held in the parking lot of Truist Bank from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  Nov. 30 is Small Business Saturday. Please plan to take a stroll through town to #ShopSmall.)

Dec. 5:  Christmas Tree Lighting. The living tree, donated years ago by the Tabor City Dirt Daubers, begins at the TC Library after the Town of Tabor City’s Christmas Parade is over. The Lighting of the Christmas Tree Ceremony will feature Christmas Carols led by the Children’s Choir of Iron Hill Baptist Church, SCHS Marching Stallion Band, a few Yam Fest Queens, and more. There will also be chicken bog bowls and other refreshments available for purchase.

Santa Claus will be there at his workshop, so bring your kids for a visit.  After the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony has ended, head on down to 114 W. Fifth Street for the Tinseling Tabor Bazaar. For more info on the parade or bazaar, please call the Tabor City Visitor Center at 910.653.4141 and Dianne Nobles Ward, TC Promotions Director, will help you. *Note that the bazaar will be open for a few days.

Dec. 6:  Christmas Cookie Crawl (3:30 – 6:30 p.m.) Cookie boxes may be purchased from TC Library for $7 each thru Dec. 6.

Dec. 7:  Christmas on the Lake. Let’s create “Magic on the Millpond”. Must pre-register and we must have at least three entries to hold this event.

Dec. 10: Trim A Tree Decorating Contest Judging begins at 5:30 p.m.

Please contact you Chamber Office for more details or with any questions.

As always, our Chamber stands ready to serve you.  Contact us at 910.377,3012 or tccofc@yahoo.com. Regular office days and hours of operation are Tuesday -Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
