Weather Update – Tuesday November 12th, 2024

Hello readers, Meteorologist Christopher Cawley here with your weather update for Tuesday evening, November 12, 2024.

Seasonable (well, perhaps slightly below normal) temperatures are likely for your Wednesday with mostly sunny skies thanks to high pressure in control. This high will slip off the coast allowing a cold front to cross our area later Thursday, bringing clouds and a good chance for showers Thursday afternoon through late Thursday evening. With the clouds and dampness in the air, Thursday is going to feel quite chilly indeed. High pressure is expected to build back in from the west over the weekend, which will give us seasonable temps on Friday… rising to above normal for the weekend… with dry weather. The weekend looks like it’s going to be really beautiful with mild afternoons and crisp fall mornings. No frost threat through the foreseeable future.

Tropics: In a case of “that escalated quickly,” a storm brewing in the southern Caribbean Sea is looking more and more organized, and will likely become a tropical system in the next few days. Models are just simply all over the place with regard to where this system goes, with some having it meander off the Central American coast, to some having it lift northward into the Gulf, and several having it impact Florida as a potential late-season hurricane. There is just no agreement whatsoever with regard to model solutions, so picking a forecast track is nigh impossible. Two of the longer-range models have it crossing Florida very similar to Hurricane Milton. Strength-intensity modeling is also concerning as most of the outputs plot this as a category-3 hurricane between hours 72 and 168… with a few models even punching as strong as cat-4. This will likely be the season’s last hurrah but the 2024 season may, in fact, go out with a bang. Again, forecasting the location of this system is virtually impossible at this point, as potential strike locations include Central America, Mexico, and the Gulf coast from Texas to Florida. Stay tuned.

Ok that’s it for tonight’s post, my friends. Thank you for reading, and as always, take care!
