Tabor Talk for the Week of Dec. 4

We would like to begin by saying how grateful we are for a wonderful community in which to work, shop, play, worship, and enjoy.  There is nowhere else we would rather be than Tabor City.

Doesn’t our town look amazing? Everywhere we go we hear so many people talking about the beautiful, festive Christmas decorations.  Kudos to our Town Government, the Tabor City Visitor Center, and to the Tabor City Public Works Department for making sure our town is a “go to” community to take families to see Christmas lights. We invite you to shop and eat in while you’re in Tabor City!

All of us are trying to step up our game in the decorating area.  The majority of our business community has already begun decorating as has our office.  We hope you can add some clear lights to your storefronts to add more “twinkle” to Twinkle Town Tabor City.

Don’t forget to contact us to enter the Trim A Tree Christmas Decorating Contest.  Please decorate as you wish. An actual decorated Christmas Tree is required to enter the contest. Decorations as a whole will be judged.

Our calendar of events for December is below.  Please note that we have included some info from a couple of our partners.  Partnerships are so important. Our goal is to continue to compliment one another’s endeavors.

Dec. 5:  Christmas Tree Lighting. Lighting Tthe living tree, donated years ago by the Tabor City Dirt Daubers, begins at the TC Library after the Town of Tabor City’s Christmas Parade Through the Lights. The Lighting of the Christmas Tree ceremony will feature Christmas Carols led by the Children’s Choir of Iron Hill Baptist Church, SCHS Marching Stallion Band, a few Yam Fest Queens, and more. There will also be chicken bog bowls and other refreshments available for purchase. Santa Claus will be there at his workshop, so bring your kids for a visit.  One of Santa’s trusted elves told us that there will be SNOW during the tree lighting. It will be snowing at Santa’s Workshop and the kids are going the be so excited. I bet we big kids will be excited, too!

After the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony has ended, head on down to 114 W. Fifth Street for the Tinseling Tabor Bazaar. For more info on the parade or bazaar, please call the Tabor City Visitor Center at 910.653.4141 and Dianne Nobles Ward, TC Promotions Director, will help you. The bazaar will be open Thursday and Friday from 4-8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Dec. 6:  The Christmas Cookie Crawl is from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. Cookie boxes may be purchased from TC Library for $7 each through Friday. You must have one of these official boxes to gather cookies.

10: Trim A Tree Decorating Contest Judging begins at 5:30 p.m.

Thank you to each vendor that participated and to those who came to shop at the Christmas Crafts Fair this past Saturday. There was a good turnout and we saw many folks strolling thru town to #ShopSmall as it was also Small Business Saturday.

Remember to #shoplocal this Christmas.
