The General Assembly officially swore in all 170 members of the house and senate Wednesday. Rep. Brenden Jones is the house Majority leader. The session will officially begin January 29. The planned public inauguration for the governor and council of state was cancelled due to the threat of a winter storm in Raleigh this weekend.
Two men have been arrested in the December 26 shooting incident that damaged a home, building and a car on Reynolds Road. Treavon Smith age 30 and Shykeem Newman face felony charges. Smith was arrested January 2, and Newman was arrested in Horry County on multiple charges.
While we likely won’t see much in terms of frozen precipitation with the current weather system, it’s going to be dangerously cold. We could see some ice and snow mixture during the overnight hours Friday into Saturday.
