A well-known State Trooper died Tuesday of an apparent medical condition while at the Outer Banks.
Anthony Godwin, 35, was a Master Trooper with the N.C. Highway Patrol. He patrolled Columbus and Brunswick counties.
“Master Trooper Anthony Godwin exemplified what it means to serve with integrity and compassion,” Sheriff Bill Rogers, a retired Trooper, said. “His commitment to safety and justice made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him, and his loss is deeply felt be all of us in law enforcement.”
The native of Crusoe Island graduated South Columbus High School and UNC Pembroke. He leaves behind his wife Heather and two children, along with other family.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Meares and Jones Funeral Services.
