Traffic Lights Out After Power Outage

Police Car Lights

A falling tree in Whiteville has caused a power outage along Powell Boulevard from the 1600 block to south Whiteville.

Traffic lights are out along the entire stretch of roadway, including at the retailers, business and homes. City Emergency Services Director Hal Lowder said motorists should use extreme caution, and treat every intersection with a malfunctioning light as a four-way stop.

The tree damaged a truck when it fell. Progress Energy crews are working to restore power.
