WBHS Volleyball Unbeaten; Wolfpack Soccer Ties 4-4

High school sports are warming up as  volleyball and soccer action kicks in before the start of school.

In girl’s volleyball Tuesday, the Lady Knights defeated West Columbus 3-0 in Dublin. West Bladen dominated all three games by scores of 25-12,25-10, and 25-18. Makenna Thurman and Tahlela Bethea combined for 17 kills, while Greer Pope bombed six aces and Natalee Sykes contributed three aces. The Knights go to 2-0 on the season.

The Whiteville Netters fell at home to 0-3 on the season with a 3-1 loss to New Hanover. The Lady Wolfpack lost the first two sets 25-22 and 25-11. They won the third 28-26 before falling in the fourth set, 25-16.

The Knights JV also won their match against West Columbus 2-0.

In boy’s soccer, Whiteville played Seventy-First to a 4-4 draw in Fayetteville. In Dublin, the Knights fell to North Brunswick 2-1. Johnathan Ortiz scored the only goal for West Bladen. West Bladen falls to 0-1 on the season.
