Whiteville Police have identified the victim in Saturday’s fatal crash.
Evelyn Rorie, 82, and Bobbie Rorie, 71, both of Whiteville, were in a Dodge Ram truck that was struck by a GMC Sierra driven by Chase Jacobs, 20 at the intersection of Burkhead and Powell Boulevard, according to Whiteville Police. The impact sent the Dodge within feet of the front door of the Minuteman store.
Mrs. Rorie was pronounced dead at the scene, WPD Chief Paul Rockenbach said. Her husband is still in critical condition at New Hanover Novant after he was airlifted from Columbus Regional. Jacobs was treated and released.
The crash is still under investigation, Rockenbach said. No charges have been filed.
