Trespasser Charged with Weapons Crimes

Whiteville Police investigating a trespassing report Thursday arrested a man with two handguns, one of which had been illegally converted to a full-automatic weapon.

Jesus G. Rojas, 23, of 52 Caswell Sellers Dr., Whiteville, was held under $75,000 secured bond, according to detention center reports. He is charged with two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, resisting an officer and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

WPD reported at officers were contacted by the owner of 122 Burkhead Street just before 9 a.m. The property owner said he discovered Rojas in the vacant home, and that Rojas did not have permission to be there.

Officers made contact with Rojas, and a records check showed he was wanted in another county. Rojas then allegedly tried to flee, but was caught by officers.

In his backpack, the report said, Rojas had a modified Glock handgun with a full-auto switch and a Jimenez .380 handgun.
