And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’ Matthew 25:40 NKJV
Election Day has come and gone. Some are pleased. Some are not with the results. Either way, those of us who walk with the Lord have an obligation to continue treating others with respect and love. The above Scripture passage tells us that how we treat others is how we treat the Lord.
I know that to some; this has been a very trying election season. Most have their opinions and most have their candidates that they backed. But think of it like this: Your candidate will not be there to help you when you need to borrow a cup of sugar. Your candidate will not be there to help when you need to move something heavy. Your candidate will not be there to bring you groceries when you are sick and can’t get to the store. Your candidate will not be there to hold your hand when you need comforting. All these things and so much more are done by friends and neighbors.
Believe it or not, it is ok to differ in opinions and still be friends! Our world will never change until we make it change. And we change it one heart at a time. Go the extra mile and demonstrate some kindness to a stranger. Reach out to a friend or neighbor, who may differ from your political views, and talk about a book you just read or a movie you’ve seen. We can converse on a wide range of topics other than politics.
Our nation is divided and we, God’s people, must reach out and genuinely love one another if we are to see any type of healing and reconciliation occur.
“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’“ This verse is not a suggestion. It is what we all need to do, right now, every day, until we all get it right!
