Jimmy Gray Rogers Sr. age 72 died March 2, 2022 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late James W. Rogers and Ruth Todd Rogers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Terry Harrelson.
Mr. Rogers was a member of Lake Waccamaw First Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent as well as a Sunday school teacher and Chairman of the Deacons. He also served his community by volunteering with the Lake Waccamaw Food Ministry. He served on the Lake Waccamaw Planning Board, and he was a volunteer firefighter as well as certified EMT. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 137 and served in the role of Vice Commander. He was a Mason and a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans of North Carolina Columbus County Volunteers Camp 794. Mr. Rogers was a Cub Master and Boy Scout Leader for Troop 507 at Lake Waccamaw.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gayle Mercer Rogers of Lake Waccamaw, one son Jimmy “Gray” Rogers, Jr. (Kim), one daughter, Melissa “Missy” Reaves, one grandson, Brenton Reaves and two granddaughters Lillian Gray and Macelyn Gray Rogers, all of Lake Waccamaw, a sister, Patricia Harrelson Story of Murphy NC and one brother, David Harrelson of Waxhaw NC.
A private final rites service for his immediate family will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Lake Waccamaw First Baptist Church, 300 W. Old US Highway 74-76.
