Deputies and Whiteville Police stayed busy with several reports of property damage by firearms through the weekend.
A home in the 300 block of North Thompson in Whiteville was hit by multiple gunshots twice in less than 24 hours, according to Whiteville Police reports. Police were called to the address at 3:24 a.m. on Aug. 19, then returned at 11:09 p.m. Aug. 20.
In the first instance, a Hyundai Sante Fe and television were reported struck, and the siding, walls, a window and French doors sustained damage. The value of the damaged property was $2,375.
The second report showed damages to walls, sheetrock, a window and a vehicle at $3,000.
The sheriff’s office is also investigating two gunfire damage cases in the county.
Two homes on Pocosin Road was hit by shots minutes after midnight Friday morning. No one was injured in the incident, which occurred in the 4000 block.
A home and a Cadillac Escalade sustained $2,000 worth of damage on Peacock Road just before midnight Saturday. No injuries were reported. That incident occurred in the 4000 block of Peacock Road.
In another report, Johnny Edwards of 356 Farm Lane, Whiteville, told deputies that a man drove past his home just after 8 p.m. Saturday and opened fire, striking a tree. Edwards was not hurt.
