A South Carolina man is in the hospital after nearly losing his hand in a boating accident on Lake Tabor Sunday.
Lt. Forrest Orr of the Wildlife Resources Commission said Allen Michael Ward, 30, was cut on the right leg and his hand was almost amputated in the accident.
“According to witnesses, he was thrown from his vessel when he was testing out a new propeller on his vessel at a high rate of speed,” Orr said.
Ward was reportedly practicing for the races at Lake Tabor next weekend. He is from Hemingway, S.C. He was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center in Myrtle Beach for treatment.
The wreck is under investigation, Orr said.
