Drug and larceny charges were levelled Monday after a traffic stop yielded a woman wanted in both Carolinas.
Shmaya Ayana Newton, 31, of 2918 Dwelle Dr., Fayetteville, was held under no bond, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office said. She was arrested just after noon in a traffic stop.
The CCSO said Newton was wanted in Cumberland and Columbus counties for multiple thefts from Dollar General stores. Newton allegedly had a quantity of cocaine and rug paraphernalia when she was arrested.
Newton was charged with felony larceny, possession of stolen goods, felony conspiracy, possession of cocaine and paraphernalia, larceny by using an emergency door, and misdemeanor larceny.
