The man who drove the getaway vehicle after Trooper Kevin Conner was murdered in 2018 is back in jail.
Raheen “Little Murder” Davis, 27, was arrested early Friday morning (today) on charges of larceny and assault on a disabled person, according to Detention Center reports and court documents. He was held under no bond. Court documents gave his address as 47 Renee Lane and 289 Braswell Rd., Chadbourn.
Deputies were called to the Renee Lane address just before 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
The report said that Davis and the victim had an argument, at which time Davis allegedly began striking the victim. Davis took the Life Alert and fled. Deputies searched the area, but could not located him.
Davis returned several hours later, and deputies were again notified. They searched for Davis a second time, and caught him nearby. Davis was processed into the detention center just after 2 a.m.
Davis was driving a stolen pickup with Chancey Askew as a passenger when Master Trooper Kevin Conner stopped the truck for speeding on U.S. 701 South. Askew shot Conner and the two suspects fled the scene. After dropping Askew off, Davis continued to Fair Bluff, where he got the truck stuck on the railroad tracks while trying to flee police.
David was originally charged with murder, but that was changed to accessory to first degree murder. He pleaded guilty to the accessory charges and was sentenced to seven to nine years, with credit for the 19.5 months he spent awaiting trial. He was also given 5.5 years supervised probation. Court documents show Davis was released from prison in October 2025, then arrested again in January for a probation violation.
Davis has multiple previous convictions for assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats and shooting into an occupied property.
