Here’s today’s Bottom Line

A stalled frontal boundary to our northwest will allow deep subtropical moisture to remain in place today into Sunday. This front will inch its way to the coast before dissolving in a building high pressure ridge.

In theory this would set the stage for waves of showers and thunderstorms. After yesterday’s forecast bust, I’m backing off on my forecast and calling it “50/50” with the chances. There’s the same chance we go through the day dry, as there is that we have periods of rain and storms.

Any storm that forms today will have the potential to produce intense local rainfall, some modest wind gusts, and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning.

We’ll have similar conditions on Sunday with perhaps a little bit more sunshine.

Then we transition back to full-blown summer for the first week of September. High pressure ridges overhead by midweek resulting in highs flirting with 100 degrees and heat advisories will be likely.

TROPICS: Dolly has dissipated into a weak tropical wave with very hostile atmospheric conditions. It is highly unlikely that the system survives beyond today.

Another area of low pressure is being watched over the northern Gulf. Very low chances for development but this low is expected to stay put for several days.
