Here’s today’s Bottom Line

A late-summer heatwave begins today. An upper-level high pressure, combined with high pressure at the surface, will cause temps to skyrocket well above early September normal, and thunderstorm chances drop to less than 10% each day Tuesday-Friday.

There is a slightly higher chance for thunderstorms this afternoon (only 20% — don’t get too excited).

After that … for the rest of the week … it’s just going to be hot.

A cold front MIGHT drop down from the north by Saturday which would bring shower/storm chances back to the area. Confidence on that solution is relatively low.

TROPICS: The main concern is an area of low pressure off the Gulf coast. This will likely become a tropical depression or storm today… but it’s not going to be sticking around long as it moves into southwest Louisiana or southeast Texas. This is going to bring a LOT of rainfall to that area.

The remnants of Dolly MIGHT regenerate later this week in the Gulf. But the chances are still relatively low on that.
