A woman is recovering from serious injuries after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and beaten by her estranged husband.
Christopher James Frank, 25, of Pecan Wood Lane, Elizabethtown, is being held under no bond, according to the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with first degree kidnapping; first degree forcible sex offense; assault inflicting serious bodily injury; misdemeanor sexual assault; misdemeanor assault on a female; crime of domestic violence; injury to personal property and assault inflicting serious injury in the presence of a minor.
Deputies were called about a sexual assault around 11:31 a.m. on Aug. 27, the sheriff’s office said. The woman met deputies at Owen Hill Road and Pecan Wood Lane. She was suffering from bruises, contusions and a broken clavicle when deputies made contact with her, the report said.
The woman told deputies she had gone to her estranged husband’s home to pick up their child after visitation. Frank allegedly dragged her into the home, beat the woman and sexually assaulted her. She managed to escape in her car and called 911.
The sheriff’s office and Bladen County Social Services are investigating.
