An extension cord led to a coffee pot, a bag of marijuana and trouble for a Haynes Lennon Road man Sunday
Christopher Lawrence Jones, 54, was arrested for possession of marijuana and utility theft, according to jail reports. Jones gave his address on court documents as 3728 Haynes Lennon Rd., Chadbourn.
The sheriff’s office reported that Joe Cox, the owner of the property on Haynes Lennon Road, called the sheriff’s office to file a complaint after finding an extension cord running from his home to a nearby, abandoned building. The deputy followed the cord and found Jones inside.
Jones admitted he was using the extension cord to power a coffee pot, and had just poured a cup.
“Under the steaming cup of coffee,” the report said, was a bag of marijuana.
He was released on a $1,000 unsecured bond.
