A Whiteville woman has been charged with insurance fraud and obtaining property by false pretenses after she allegedly submitted $4,710 in fraudulent insurance claims.
Marilyn Davis, 48, of Davis Avenue, was served with a criminal summons Nov. 30, according to the department of insurance. She allegedly filed the fictitious insurance claims between Dec. 15, 2018 and April 15, 2019.
The Dept. of Insurance said in a release that Davis filed multiple claims for medical expenses with American Family Life Insurance Co. She is due in District court Jan. 6.
