Halloween activity guide for 2021

Editor’s note — we will be adding to this list in the coming days. If you have a Halloween activity to share, email crystalfaircloth@columbuscounty.news.

Halloween is creeping around the bend, and the county has big plans for everyone.

Christy Lewis Harrelson of Lake Waccamaw loves Halloween, but she won’t be able to greet the trick or treaters on the big day this year. Since the lake has no ordinance on when Halloween can be celebrated, she announced on Facebook that she will be welcoming trick or treaters at her home tomorrow (Tuesday). Harrelson will be welcoming visitors from her carport door at 1905 Lakewood Ave., Lake Waccamaw.

For those of you who aren’t big on trick or treating, there will be something to still fill those candy sacks. But first, you need a costume.

• Brand new Halloween costumes are up for grabs at the Lake Waccamaw Boys and Girls Home Country Thrift Store. The cost of each costume is only $3. The Safe Night is canceled this year due to the pandemic, but the Lake Waccamaw community has you covered.

• Head on up the road to the First Baptist Church of Lake Waccamaw to get the kids a treat. The church will be having a trunk-or-treat from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m.
• A couple of miles down the road at Hallsboro, Galloway Farms — home of the Maze Craze – will be open both Saturday Oct. 30 and Sunday Oct.  31. Go get lost in some fun and in the corn maze.

• Premier Living and Rehab Center of Lake Waccamaw will be sponsoring a drive-thru Trunk-or-Treat for children up to 12 years old. The event will be held on Friday, Oct. 29 from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. COVID precautions will be observed along with social distancing.

Please keep trick-or-treaters with special needs in mind as you get out and about this Halloween.
