Arthur Larry Barnhill, age 78, of Whiteville, N.C., passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, at Premier Living, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. Larry was born on June 10, 1943 in New Hanover County, to the late Arthur Wells Barnhill and Helen Irene Harrelson Barnhill. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Barnhill McDuffie.
Larry served his country in the National Guard. He was the owner and operator of a trucking company. Larry was a member at Hallsboro Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon since 1979. He was also very active with the Baptist Men’s Group of the church and worked with the Ramps and Rails Organization building ramps in the area.
He is survived by a son; Larry Alexander Barnhill (Jane) of Zebulon; a granddaughter, Grace Barnhill and a grandson, Jacob Barnhill.
A funeral will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the McKenzie Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Scott Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:45 am prior to the service. Burial will be in the Pierce Cemetery, Hallsboro, N.C.
