Maze Craze at Galloway Farm in Hallsboro opened on Saturday, Sept. 24, for their 2022 season. This year, the farm has partnered with Netflix to bring the ‘Outer Banks’ (OBX) to Columbus County.
The popular show follows teenage John B. as he enlists his three best friends to hunt for a legendary treasure linked to his father’s disappearance. It’s based on the actual east coastal barrier islands and features North Carolina history and folklore.
The 13-acre Outer Banks themed maze takes you on a treasure hunt for OBX icons, like surfboards and signs, hidden throughout the labyrinth. Participants will receive a map at admissions before entering the pathways, and as icons are found, a hole punch is used at each to mark your map. The hunt can also be done digitally by scanning a QR code at the start and as each item is found. The website will also guide you through the maze with a virtual version of the OBX design in real time so you will always know where you are among the corn stalks.
Food trucks, picnic tables, and bathrooms are available on the farm. A kid’s maze, games, and play place are also setup for families to enjoy. Sunflowers and Zinnias are still growing, and butterflies and honey bees are taking advantage of the floral field on the pollinator path.
Tickets start at $12 and grants you all the fun the farm has in store. Visit www.gallowayfarm.yapsody.com/event/index/738159/2022-maze-craze-at-galloway-farm to purchase your tickets through Nov. 6.
