As Idalia inches closer to Columbus County, Lake Waccamaw is making preparations. Mayor Matt Wilson declared a state of emergency for the town at noon on Aug. 29. Town Hall will be closed for business on Thursday, Aug. 31.
Take the Lake and other activities are scheduled for this Labor Day weekend. The final decision about whether or not events will be ongoing will be made on Friday morning after accessing the impacts made by Idalia. The safety of citizens and visitors to the area is top priority after a weather event at Lake Waccamaw.
