Detainee Charged with  Attempting Jailbreak

Mhalik Graham (CCSO)

More felony charges have been filed against Mhalik Graham after he allegedly tried to escape the county jail while another inmate was overdosing.

Warrants show that Graham, 25, was charged with resisting an officer and misdemeanor escape from a local jail. Graham was already in jail under a secured bond for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Graham allegedly refused to go back into his cell when the Detention Center was going on lockdown Monday. Detention staff were attempting to aid a detainee who had overdosed, according to the warrant. He did not make it outside the Detention Center.

Records show Graham has an extensive criminal record, including a February incident at the Holiday Motel where he was arrested after breaking into a motel room while naked, then rapping and dancing in traffic on U.S. 701.

His address was listed as 705 S. Franklin St., Whiteville.
