A fight between two men led to a shooting Saturday when a juvenile allegedly opened fire with a rifle, striking one of the combatants.
Justin Lee, 23, and James Gilson were allegedly involved in a scuffle just before 10 p.m., the sheriff’s office reported. Lee reportedly injured Gilson in the head during the fight.
A 16 year old fired multiple shots at Lee trying to defend Gilson, the report said. Lee was hit several times in the body.
Lee was airlifted from the scene to New Hanover Regional, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The investigation is continuing.
