Shooting Victim Airlifted After Driving Home

The victim of a late night shooting near Whiteville drove himself home before being taken to Columbus Regional and airlifted.

Brandon Tyler Butler, 28, reportedly called 911 after he was shot in the face during the 11 p.m. incident. Butler went to 76 Campground Road to give an acquaintance a ride, according to the report.

That person allegedly shot Butler in the face, and Butler fled the scene. After driving himself home to a Whiteville address, he was transported to the hospital.

The investigation is continuing.
