It was a sunny yet breeze day Saturday at Gurganus Farm Store for their first ever Spring Fling and Flock Swap Customer Appreciation Day.
Both backyard and professional growers brought a variety of poultry, fowl and goats to sell at the event. Sellers were there with locally raised chickens, ducks, turkeys, peacocks and rabbits.
A number of vendors from the Columbus County Community Farmers Market were also on hand, with fresh local produce like strawberries, microgreens, chicken and duck eggs. Some vendors with jewelry, pottery, woodwork, baked goods, jellies, relishes, and fresh seafood.
Kids and adults alike enjoyed snow cones and slushies. An area breeder also had puppies for sale.
Along with food trucks, the Farm Store offered free hot dogs and water.
Inside the store, the Columbus County Beekeepers had a display of honeybees and information on bees.
Columbus County Animal Protective Services was administering rabies vaccines shots for $5. Whiteville Fire department was there to greet onlookers and explain all about their equipment.
Saturday’s event was a combined effort by Sue Miller of the Farm Store staff and Santana Mills.
