Inns and accessory dwellings are on the agenda for Lake Waccamaw Commissioners Tuesday.
In August, the board of adjustments heard an appeal from Lynn Hinnant, who wants to renovate ten rooms at the Lake Waccamaw Campground and Marina into rentals. The original zoning permit for the project was rejected by the town’s zoning office. The Board of Adjustment refused the appeal, but instructed the town’s zoning administrator to “find a way” to make the proposed use compliant with the town’s rules.
On Oct. 7, the Planning Board forwarded a modified proposed ordinance to the town with a positive endorsement.
The proposed ordinance defines accessory living quarters; clarifies that multifamily dwellings (with two or more families living separately) are only allowed for permanent dwellings; defines the differences between an inn and a hotel/motel; and changes accessory living quarters for employees to a special use, rather than a permitted use.
The commissioners will discuss the proposed ordinance at Tuesday’s meeting.
The board will also consider funding offers for meter replacement and the wastewater treatment system and plant rehabilitation project.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in town hall on Flemington Drive.
Videographer Crystal Faircloth will be live streaming the meeting for ColumbusCountyNews.com
