An investigation by county Vice Narcotics detectives and the Patrol Division led to the arrest of two armed felons who were manufacturing marijuana, according to the sheriff’s office.
Dustin Randall Duncan, 34, and Regina Earl Norris, 55, both of 7922 Old Stake Rd., Tabor city, were arrested Oct. 27, a sherif’s office news release said, Norris was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, and released ion $2,500 secured bond.
Duncan was held without bond on charges of possession of a weapon of mass destruction, being a felon in possession of a firearm, maintaining a home for drug activities, manufacturing marijuana, breaking and entering, communicating threats, property damage, and violation of a domestic violence protection order.
Duncan allegedly had five marijuana plants growing in his home, according to warrants. He also had a semi-automatic handgun that had been converted to fully automatic and fitted with a suppressor. Both modifications are illegal without federal licenses. Duncan was also convicted of breaking, entering and larceny in 2009, and is ineligible to own any kind of firearm.
“These arrests underscore the strength of our team and our commitment to protecting the public,” Sheriff Bill Rogers said. “The success of this operation wouldn’t have been possible without the dedicated support of our patrol division, whose attentiveness and teamwork were essential. Together, we’re making strides toward a safer Columbus County.”
