Five Jailed on Stolen Property, Drug Charges

A stolen property investigation led to a major drug bust in Nakina Dec. 5, and more charges are pending.

The sheriff’s office reported that detectives executed a search warrant on Nucket Lane, Nakina and confiscated a “significant” amount of stolen property, including three trailers, a dirt bike and a camper.

“The investigation led to a breakthrough for the Narcotics Division,” the CCSO said in a press release, “resulting in another search warrant that unveiled amounts of heroin, fentanyl and marijuana, plus a firearm.”

Five suspects were arrested and jailed, the release said. They were

  • Skyler Ray Long, 33, of 135 Lettie and Lennox Rd., Nakina. Long was charged with two counts of possessing and

    receiving stolen property, trafficking in opiates, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates and marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000.

  • Jonathan David Cumbee, 37, of 1101 Reaves Ferry Rd., charged with possession and receiving stolen property, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates and marijuana, trafficking in opiates, drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $100,000.

  • Teresa Marie Hursey, 37, 436 Country Village Estates, Whiteville, was charged with possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates and marijuana; drug paraphernalia, and two counts of trafficking in opiates. Her bond was set at $100,000.

  • Linda Nicole Gore, 33, of 5961 Old Lumberton Rd., Whiteville, was charged with trafficking in opiates; possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver opiates and marijuana; and drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $100,000.
  • Jonathan Brett Dorsch, possession of stolen property, was given a $2,500 unsecured bond. His age and information were not immediately available.

The investigation is ongoing, Sheriff Bill Rogers said, and additional charges are anticipated.
