County 911 Being Rerouted

Columbus County is experiencing problems with the 911 system, and calls are being routed through Bladen County.

Columbus County Emergency Services Director David Ransom said calls are still being answered and dispatched, but callers will get operators in Bladen County while the Columbus system is being repaired.

“It might be confusing to some people when the person answering the phone says ‘Bladen County 911’,” Ransom said, “but they are relaying the information over here and calls are being answered as normal.”

Ransom said AT&T is working to correct the problems.
