Derelict Home Burns in Crusoe

A rundown home at the end of Crusoe Island Road was completely destroyed in a structure fire Jan. 24 — but no 911 calls were made about the blaze.
Fire Marshal Shannon Blackman said there was no power to the property in the 2800 block of Crusoe Island Road. The home was in an isolated location, and had been the subject of multiple complaints to the sheriff’s office and Animal Protective Services. It was not immediately known if anyone lived in the house.
“The house was there on Wednesday morning (Jan. 24) and gone by that night,” Blackman said. “When we found out about it and went to the scene Friday it was nothing but tin and blocks.”
Firefighters from Old Dock VFD were called to the area again Wednesday night to a grass fire in the area.
