Brews and Bites: Nell’s Chophouse and Catering

I had the pleasure to be invited to the grand opening and ribbon cutting at a new restaurant in Chadbourn, Nell’s Chophouse and Catering. Now located at 405 N. Brown Street, Coach Brandon Smith has brought his business to a larger audience. He had a catering location out in the North Tabor/904 area and has served the West Columbus football athletes for years, catering team meals and special events and growing a great name for wonderful food and a big smile every time.

I will open with a quick word that you will want to drive over and get what I think are the best wings in CoCo. (I’m open to a challenge or a taste testing if anyone wants to host one.) Coach Smith absolutely knows how to throw down on some wings, offering several unique flavors and styles of prep. I could quit right here and leave you with just that, but he says that he’s not just a one trick pony, and also knows plenty about a burger and claims to have the best in the area. I look forward to trying one very soon.
Today’s article is an introduction to the newest eatery in the county and how you can get in touch with Nell’s.
Mr. Smith is a family man and has chosen to honor his sister’s legacy with the name of his establishment. He said his sister was the best cook he has ever known and was the biggest giver in his world. He wants to extend that attitude to the community and welcome everyone in for a plate for lunch.
“Please feel welcome to come in,” he said. “You are family and I want you to feel like family as you enter.”

He has put together a simple but solid menu of wings, salads, and burgers along with cooked to order ribeyes and pork chops. His entree plate sides include a long list of Southern favs and can be paired with slices of cake and pie.

Nell’s Chophouse is looking to try out for your lunch time spot in the Chadbourn area, but I promise that you will return to find something special here.

Nell’s is currently open Tuesday – Friday 11-5, Saturdays 11-7, and Sundays 11-3. They have a small dining room and invite you to sit and enjoy your meal, but carry out and call ahead is available for convenience. Contact Nell’s at 910.516.2076. I will say that they are definitely “In The Groove,” getting things figured out and looking to be a solid option for the Chadbourn market. I wish you nothing but success and a wonderful future.
