Here’s your Bottom Line for today…

Weak high pressure building in from the northwest keeps us dry today, albeit rather cloudy at times. Our highs should be right around 60, or possibly into the lower 60s if we can get more sunshine.

Attention then focuses on the only act in town for the weather this week. As you recall, a cold front dropped south over the area Saturday evening; this front is draped along the northern Gulf coast. Low pressure will form on this and work to “push” things back to the north by tonight. The front won’t make it back through here, but it will be close enough that the low pressure center will bring a good bit of rainfall and breezy conditions ot the area during the overnight Sunday night and through the day Monday.

Rain may be heavy at times on Monday as the low crosses southern Georgia and then turns northeastward up the coast.

Here is the “future radar model” for 8 AM Monday.

The rain should taper off well after midnight Monday night, but some guidance is trying to keep some scattered showers in here early Tuesday. I went with a dry forecast for Tuesday but that may need to be revised.

The National Blend of Models paints quite a good rainfall for Columbus County… with rainfall amounts between 1 and 1.5 inches possible. NWS is going with less amounts… generally three quarters to one inch for the county.

After that storm pulls away, dry air and lots of sunshine return by Tuesday afternoon. High pressure then really takes charge with quiet weather lasting through the end of the work week. The modeling has backed off considerably on a possible monster cold front by the end of the week. We will have high pressure ridging offshore, which will lead to very warm temperatures for mid-March.

Here’s your Freedom Insurance Today-Plus-5 forecast for Columbus County.

That’ll do it for today. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and as always, take care.
