Major Brett Baxley has been dismissed by Columbus County Sheriff Bill Rogers.
Baxley, a retired Highway Patrol Trooper, was originally hired in October 2022 by Sheriff Bill Rogers as an internal affairs investigator. He continued on under Sheriff Rogers, serving as part of the command staff with the CCSO.
Baxley was terminated Friday, according to a personnel release by the county administration. His ending salary was $81,206.
No reason was given for the dismissal.
