Drug charges have been filed against a Tabor City prison guard who was allegedly smuggling contraband into the prison.
Latosha Shante Walker, 37, of Wilmington, is being held under $5,000 secured bond on charges of sale and delivery of marijuana and possession of drugs in a prison, according to detention center reports.
Walker was in a pre-shift inspection at the prison around 6:20 p.m. Sunday when another officer detected the odor of marijuana, according to the report. Walker handed over a quantity of marijuana and suboxone when confronted about the smell, Tabor City Police reported. She was escorted from the property, and turned herself in to face charges Tuesday (today).
