Here’s today’s Bottom Line
Greetings and happy Monday (well, as happy as a Monday can be, I suppose)! Thanks for checking in with the CCN Daily Weather Blog.
We finished with 0.44 inch rainfall at my station in Whiteville over the weekend; some areas received a bit more, up to about three-quarters of an inch for the far northwest portion of the county, while down toward the coast there was very little rainfall. None of that is going to make any dent in the drought; only the very upper layers of the soil really got any moisture from this event.
Fortunately we won’t be waiting another 19 days before it rains again. A frontal system will push into the area on Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. This will bring the good chance for showers and thunderstorms to the area. Modeling is showing considerably more moisture pushing into the area with upper-atmospheric support. Rainfall could be as much as a half inch across the area with this frontal passage.
The cold front itself pushes through early Thursday morning but the rain should be done by then. Dry weather then prevails Thursday and Friday. Another front pushes into the area on Saturday with slightly cooler temps.
