A powerful storm front caused nuisance flooding and knocked out power for most of Whiteville this evening.
Duke Progress Energy crews are still working to restore power in some areas. The outage was caused by damage to main lines, according to Duke.
Traffic lights throughout the city were knocked offline for a period.
At least one collision was blamed on the storm. Traffic was tangled at Washington Street and Powell Boulevard while Whiteville Fire cleared the scene.
