The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV) has revoked the commercial driver training school business license and all associated instructor licenses of NC Virtual Driver’s Ed, LLC (NCDMV Business License #1647), effective immediately. The company may no longer operate as a commercial driver training school in North Carolina.
The action follows an investigation that found the business in violation of multiple North Carolina General Statutes and Administrative Code rules. Violations included failing to maintain required office hours and staffing, improperly counting non-instructional time toward the required six hours of behind-the-wheel training, lacking sufficient qualified instructors, and misrepresenting NCDMV refund policies. Specific concerns involved linking classroom and behind-the-wheel services in a way that restricted refunds, delaying or refusing refunds and completion certificates, and related issues.
NCDMV had placed the business on probationary status and offered a Probationary Agreement with a corrective action plan. The company did not accept the agreement by the Aug. 31, 2026, deadline. As a result, NCDMV has revoked the licenses.
NC Virtual Driver’s Ed, LLC remains responsible for issuing all completion certificates for services already rendered and refunds for any payments received for services not provided. The Division has directed the company to fulfill these obligations by Oct. 15. Any completion certificates issued by the company must be dated with the actual date the course work was completed. NCDMV Driver License Offices will not accept paperwork issued by the business on or after the Sept. 2, revocation date.
Services previously completed through the company remain valid. Customers who received completion certificates dated prior to the revocation may continue to use them for driver education purposes.
