One Charged in Road Shooting

Deputies have arrested a man on charges on firing into an occupied vehicle and assaulting the driver.

James Paul Inman, 42, was arrested Saturday, according to detention center reports. He is charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, simple assault, assault with a deadly weapon, a probation violation, driving while impaired, and crossing the center line. His address was listed in court documents as 869 Miller Rd., Tabor city.

Warrants show that Inman is alleged to have rammed Joseph Boyd’s 2013 Nissan Pathfinder with his own vehicle, and fired shots into the SUV at the intersection of Mollie Iron Hill Road and Peacock Road on Aug. 25. Inman allegedly chased and struck Boyd’s vehicle. He also allegedly struck Boyd in the head with his fist, causing minor injuries.
